The following is the information you are looking for detailing how to hang and protect your hex signs so that you can enjoy them for as long as possible.

Where am I going to hang my hex sign?
Hex Signs can be displayed in any number of locations. If you choose to mount them inside of a building or outside where they won't be exposed to strong winds or vibrations then mounting the sign at its center is all that is required. Your hex sign will have a small pre-drilled hole at it's center. You can opt to use a nail or a screw for center mounting. Using a nail that has a head slightly larger than the hole will show up the least, but a screw will allow you to remove and relocate the sign with less of a chance for damaging the sign. You can always use a little paint that matches the design and color the top of the nail or screw.
If you have a large sign or your sign just requires a sturdier mount then the side mount technique is the best choice. Besides being secured at two locations, this also prevents the sign from spinning like it could with the center mount. Your sign does not come with mouning holes on the sides. Pre-drilling these holes before mounting your hex sign is recommended.
How can I protect and care for my hex sign?
The design applied to the front of your sign is sufficient to protect the wood backing, but if you are going to display your where it will be exposed to the elements then you may want to consider giving it some additional protection. You can seal the back and edge with outdoor paint or clear coat. This can be applied with a brush or by spraying it on. Painting it on gives you a thicker coating quicker but requires extra care to avoid getting sealant on the front of the hex sign. If you spray it you will get thinner coats but there is less of a risk of getting anything on the front because you can just lay it on a flat surface while you spray it. It is not recommended that you use clear coat on the front of the sign as the coating can yellow over time and effect the look of the sign.
